This is why the Wjc's are overblown.. Logan Brown and that Merkley POS are nobody's. Just cause you make ur national team as a junior doesn't guarantee anything. Boys get separated from the men in the NHL.

I loved his book. Great read. Especially when he trashes Torts. 😂 I recall when the Wings had Avery early in his career. I liked how he got under players skin. He sucked at fighting but was always a willing combatant. Wings players liked him. Holland traded Avery to LA in the Mathieu Schneider deal. He could've played longer if he didn't pi$$ it all away.

Or sometimes in the AHL. I think being productive in the AHL is often a good indicator (if they are still young, like 19 or 20) that a young player has genuine talent. Not every great AHL player can compete in the NHL, but it's definitely a better indication of a future NHL talent than a good WJC or even an impressive juniors career.

Still a fun tournament to watch. Not sure why the kids have to be judged on their assumed NHL success to enjoy the WJC teams they play for.

I may be wrong, but I don't think they were trying to say the WJC wasn't fun to watch, just that the value most people seem to assign to any player that does well in the tournament is overblown.

Lots of people go gaga over any player that has a good performance in that tournament, as if a strong WJC performance was some sort of definite indicator of a future NHL star. While performing well in that tournament is great for the player and certainly better than a bad showing, people need to stop putting so much emphasis on such performances, in regard to a player's likely future.

If you play for team Canada you should make the NHL.. it's not the players fault, but the Team Canada staff. Logan Brown on the other hand will probably have mediocre NHL career
